Joann Brenner

Joann Brenner was a brave and selfless woman who positively impacted all lives she touched. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and teacher. She left this world on December 20, 2021 after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will honor her legacy by living their lives to the very fullest. Born 1965, she blessed us with 56 years of love, lessons and laughter.

This beautiful soul was a Wife and partner to Michael Brenner for 30 years; Mother to Clayton & Nicole; Stepmother to Adam; Mother in Law to Aaron, Carlye, & Kandice; Beloved Sister to Karen and her brothers she joined in heaven Danny and Bob; Devoted Nana to Savannah, Brynlee, Olivia, Ethan, & Evelyn; Daughter to Laura “Sally” and Arthur; Educator at Parkway South; Dedicated Yogi; and loyal friend to everyone she met.

JoAnn earned her MBA and had a career in business. At age 40 she went back to earn a Masters of Math Education for her next career as a high school math teacher. She felt she could have an impact on young lives and make a real difference.

The simplest pleasures in life brought such joy to Joann. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren whether it was playing in the backyard or painting rocks; there truly has never been a more loving and devoted parent/grandparent anywhere. JoAnn taught yoga and enjoyed traveling, sightseeing and visiting beaches in Florida and Alabama and hiking mountains in the parks in Utah and Arizona. She loved exploring the country with her husband, admiring the beauty nature has to offer. She appreciated connecting with friends with a glass of wine in hand.

She was a true light in this world, so vibrant and full of life. She breathed life into our souls, was the calm in everyone’s storm, brought laughter when it was needed most, and left a lasting impression on everyone she met. JoAnn fought cancer for over 5 years bravely, without complaint and with an always positive attitude. She always said, “INGA – I am not going anywhere!” and she’s not. She will be with us, in our hearts, for eternity.

Her family wishes to express sincere gratitude to all those who have supported us during this time. Your offers of love, prayers, good wishes, and support are truly appreciated. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.

Everyone’s Best Friend. Everyone’s joy to be around. A wonderful lady.

She lit up every room she ever entered.

She will be missed.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for her and will announce details after the Holidays.

I had the privilege of working with JoAnn at Parkway South High School. She was a fair, dedicated and compassionate educator and an excellent colleague. In a profession rife with challenges and disappointments, JoAnn transcended the the inclination to be negative due to her belief in her students and her always upbeat and cheerful attitude. The very many people whose lives she touched are better for having known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
