Although your Mother may have left for a brief period of time, she waits for you and will run to you on the other side when you pass over and the reunion will be sweet and will be forever thanks to Jesus Christ and God the Father. Hold on to those memories you had on earth and get ready to make memories for eternity. Families are forever and your sweet Mother and her kindness and legacy will be a hallmark of your family and what you stood for – the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I didn’t know Joanna for a long time. We met later in life. I so enjoyed the time we had talking at church. There was peace, a light that radiated from Joanna. Reading now about her life I am humbled. From this amazing woman came this beautiful legacy of life! It is such a blessing to know God’s plan for us. She is reunited with her husband together with her love ones for eternity.

Joanna is my mother-in-law and none of the jokes apply! She was the best 2nd mom anyone could ever have. She always had on hand my favorite ice cream. She could see through darkness and find light! She loved big and even in her final days she was refined and kind! I will miss her and am grateful that families are forever and that she is part of mine.

Joanna was such a sweetheart. She and Nick were always so kind to me. As a Relief Society Presidency, we often met at Joanna’s home. She was so welcoming and was such a joy to be around. Lots of love and comfort to Joanna’s family and friends. Gwen Knight Moitzfield

Joanna was very special to me. When I decided to first come back to church a few years ago, after a long hiatus, Joanna always looked out for me before Sacrament. I would stand at the entry door looking around, not knowing anyone, and she would rush to me and usher me to a seat next to her. She gave me a historical book on the Missouri Saints and called me to ask questions about ward activities. She made me feel welcome and a part of things when I needed it most. I never stopped sitting next to her on that last row of pews in the church. I miss her.

Joanna is my mother-in-law, but I have known her since I was 14. She made me feel like a part of the family in small and simple ways from the beginning when I was just a teenager and best friends with Rebecca, her daughter. I remember her asking me what my favorite pie was and then baking it. No one had ever done anything like that for me. It never bothered her that I was there almost all the time when they lived in Chicago and that I would come for Christmas when they moved away. I always felt at home.I don’t know if she realized how much having their home as my second home meant. She was always there at important times, from John and my wedding, to our children’s baptisms and weddings. She would come visit regularly and taught me how to start dinner early in the day, take my toddlers for walks, helped get me ready for each of my babies, and always was offering to help. She always welcomed us with smiles and hugs when we would visit their home, wherever they lived. She was a wonderful example to me always, of service, dedication to the gospel of Jesus Christ, serving in the temple and loving family. She would call to check in on whatever was going on with her grandchildren. Singing with her at the piano was always a part of every visit and something I will greatly miss. She was an inspired mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother and was always thinking of the needs of her family. I will always miss her till we meet again.
