John Carpenter

John Hubert Carpenter IV passed away surrounded by love on July 13, 2024 at the age of 61. He was born a Seminals fan on July 17, 1962. Son of the late John and Geraldine Carpenter; Husband of Kena, Father to Shawn, Jay, Lacey (Tim), Raymond, and Ryan; Poppy to Gunner, Allison, and Daniel; Brother to Pamela, Jacqueline, Carol, Linda, and George; Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews; Friend to many.

John grew up in Ormond Beach, FL where he was often found near the water. Whether it was swimming, surfing, or fishing you could bet you would find him outdoors enjoying the sun. John had a passion for music that was infectious to those around him. He could often be heard singing along, listening, and dancing to the music. Because of his love of music, he attended many concerts throughout his life. John also enjoyed telling a good story especially about the shenanigans he was involved in throughout the years. One of John’s favorite names was Poppy, he was always playing and spending time with his grandkids, or sneaking them up to QuikTrip for an ice cream. John was an avid football fan and could be found every Sunday watching his beloved Dolphins. John will be missed by all that loved him.

John’s final wishes were for those around him to not grieve his loss but rather have a party in his honor. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, August 18, 2024, 11am-4pm at Broemmelsiek Park, Shelter 5, 1795 Highway DD, Defiance, MO 63341.

So sad, I worked john at pantry pride in Daytona, we worked together as a team, I was the co-manager and ge was my grocery manager, one of the hardest workers I’ve worked with. When pantry pride closed I went to the local Anheuser-Busch distributor and John joined me a few years later. Last time he visited Daytona we met for a beer. Wish I would have kept in touch. He will surely be missed.

Incredible memories growing up during the 1970’s and 1980’s on the Ormond by the Sea north shore (as the Original NSG !) including with John throughout Jr. & Sr. High school years and beyond – beginning as beach kids with surfboards, skateboards and bicycles then in our teenage years moving on to fast motorcycles and cars. Although we all were forced to grow up and some of us had moved away from the area, I am glad to have known and consider John as a friend. I occasionally drive up John Anderson Drive passing by the Carpenter’s home.
I had not spoken to John for many years and was saddened to hear thru mutual friends of his brave battle with illness and eventual passing
In keeping with John’s final wishes I will not grieve his loss but raise a toast to his honorable and well-lived life with many friends and family.
