Keith Michael Borage

December 5th, 1956 – September 13th, 2024

Keith Borage, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 13, 2024, at the age of 67. Born on December 5, 1956, Keith was a proud man of many talents and endearing quirks but most of all a dedicated family man.

He is predeceased by his parents, Richard Paul Borage and Betty Riedinger Hoffmeier. Keith is survived by his loving wife, Julie Ann Borage (nee Christisen), and his three children: Vance Gregory (Savanna) Borage, Elida Marie Borage, and Camelia Nicole Al-Busaidy. He was also the cherished grandfather of Nolan Michael Katzenberger, Rainn Richard Borage, and Amanda Nicole Hays, and the dear brother of Richard Paul (Terry) Borage and Karen Marie Borage-Ward (the late Terry Ward). Keith was a treasured uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.

After dedicating 25 years to Diamler Chrysler, Keith retired and filled his time with his passions: fishing, hunting, horticulture and most of all keeping up on current sports. As an avid sports enthusiast, he was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, expressing his love for the team and what some may remember, his frustration during tough losses. Keith had a unique talent for handling snakes and reptiles, fearlessly interacting with creatures that would send most people running for the hills.

In addition to his outdoor pursuits, Keith was gifted at ping pong, darts, pool, and had a throwing arm that rivaled most.  He could throw rocks, baseballs, and Frisbees like no one you have seen. His competitiveness was balanced with warmth and humor that touched the lives of those around him.

Keith proudly served in the Air National Guard – U.S. Air Force as an APR cable and antenna system/maintenance specialist, demonstrating his commitment to serving his country.

Keith Borage will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his love, laughter, and the many ways he enriched the lives of those around him.

    My Schnookums,

41 years of friendship is no joke. The memories are Imbedded in my mind, and in my heart. From the first day to the last day you have been more than a friend. Float Trips, Swimming, BBQ’s, late night fish fry’s, ( me and Julie waiting for you to clean the fryer, then you showing us the fish, when, how you caught it and where you were), The same with all the wood, having us look at the wood, smelling it, how it burns. You were always so detailed, I admired you for that. The critters, New Years parties, then burning the tree out front. (Sometimes you would take off in the woods and Julie would say “he’ll be back” and of course 1-2 hours later there you were.) So much fun. You knew every inch of the woods and as far as the eye can see. Listening to you during any sport was hilarious too, you knew it all. But most of all your love and commitment to your family. I always said you and Julie were made for each other, just alike in so many ways. I will miss you my friend, I will never forget.

I’m reminded of the summer adventures. One adventure involved finding a piece of cyclone fence out in the barn that we used to make a multi-grapple hook platform to drag the pond. As I recall, you decided to do some midnight fishing, and had taken the little Jon Boat out to try and catch a mess of fish for breakfast. The fish were not biting that evening and you settled for a birthday suit swim. What the heck, a hot summer day, all alone, you left your cloths in the boat and went for a swim. Unfortunately, getting back in the Jon Boat was not so easy. Tipping over the boat, losing your cloths, wallet, and car keys was not part of the plan. Soo began our adventure the next day when we developed the multi-grapple cyclone fence retriever that worked like a charm. We should have patented our Treble Hook invention. We had tons of fun at your Dad’s place in Hillsboro, and it was there one summer afternoon while playing horseshoes that you helped me make my final decision to join the Air National Guard. I have Keith to thank, and it was the best decision I ever made. As I recall, you kicked everyone’s ass playing shoes on that hot summer day. You will be missed my friend. Thanks for giving me some fond memories.

Finally at peace and hopefully soon laid to rest. Fun memories with your sister and uncle. So proud of Vance. I will think of you when I hear Styx and remember the way you would say POPs!! There is no bitching in heaven. Peace to you and your dad.

I was a neighbor of Keith’s and can vouch for his athletic prowess. I will never forget when he picked up a rock about as big as a tennis ball and threw it over the huge oak trees in my backyard from street! And his dog, Sabre, somehow found it and brought it back. Couldnt beat him at ping pong either. Rest in Peace Big Guy.
