Michael E. Jones

Michael E. Jones was born on July 10, 1948 in Moberly Missouri and passed away May,7 2020 at the age of 71 from lung cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Josephine Jewell (Porter) and Orville Leo Jones. He was a loving father to Jennifer Skinner and Stacey (Dan) Rose. Grandfather to Susan, Kayla, Jacob and William Skinner. Former spouse of Kathy Jones (Press). Brother to Zenda, Donnie, Rick, Greg (Jan), (preceded in death by) Denny and Randy, uncle and friend to so many.

Mikey worked for Tretolite/Petrolite/Owen Development in Webster Groves for 40+ years until he took early retirement at 64. We all thought Mikey would go crazy having nothing to do but the opposite happened and he was having the time of his life. He bought his dream car, the bright red Camaro, which we all swore would be the death of him. He played a lots of golf. He became an interictal part of the lives of new friends and young neighbors. Always helping everyone, he was the staple of the neighborhood cruising around on his riding lawnmower with a Busch beer in hand. He became part of the Fandangos family meticulously cleaning the bar a few days a week and spending tenfold his pay drinking it away each Saturday afternoon with his cronies. He made forever friends playing on the Fandangos pool team and several of them became like his brothers. Fandangos will not be the same on those Saturday afternoons sitting at “their table” without that big personality and smile on his face. Mike Jones was happy, proud, dependable, helpful, loyal, stubborn, particular, a smart aleck, and a royal pain in the ass. He would be happy to be remembered for all of it.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date when quarantine guidelines are lifted.

I will ALWAYS remember Mikey as the take no crap kind of man with the biggest heart. If he loved you he would do anything he could for you. He could be intimidating when he wanted, he could be hilarious when he wanted, or could be the biggest softy when he wanted. I learned a lot being in his presence for so many years…. grateful for every lesson! He will be missed!
