Michael Francis
Michael John Francis
On Monday, April 6, 2020, Michael John Francis left this world peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Overland, Missouri, at the age of 77. Mike was born in the city of St. Louis, the oldest of five, to John and Ruth Francis. He was a devoted husband to Gloria (nee Poelker) for nearly 47 years and loving father to Sarah (James) and Rebecca (Ben). He passed on his love of miniature trains to his grandson, Joshua, while his granddaughters, Evelyn and Miriam, simply stole his heart and could do no wrong. Mike is also survived by his sister, Judy (Bewig), and brothers, Bernie, Bob, and Greg.
Although his skillset went far beyond, Mike worked as a cement finisher for over 40 years and was so proud to have earned his 60-year member gold card with the Cement Mason’s Union Locale 527 at the end of last year. Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards with his brothers, and serving as a handyman to family and friends. He was authentic and blunt, sarcastic and dry, honest and hard-working, but also selfless and loving. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
