Michael Robertson

Michael Ray Robertson (“Dreamcatcher Mike”), beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend passed away at his home in Brentwood, Missouri on January 9, 2022, at age 72.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lou and Bobbie Ray Robertson, and sister Mary Lyn Ubaudi. He is survived by his son Brandon Robertson of St. Louis, MO and 8 siblings: Bill Farris, Brenda Robertson Steinhauer, Butch Farris, Coena Ferguson, Jim Robertson, Kathy Brown, Kent Robertson, and Linda Robertson Hope.

Mike was born to Bob and Mary Lou in Sterling, Illinois on November 19, 1949. He spent much of his childhood in Collinsville, IL where he became an expert at billiards in the local pool halls. He became so skilled in the sport that he is once rumored to have beaten the legendary Willie Mosconi “Mr. Pocket Billiards” in a pickup game in Chicago, IL. He later played in pool leagues in the St. Louis area to great success and continued to refine his skills until just days before his passing.

Mike attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and served in the United States Army from 1971-1975. He had fond memories of living in Miami, Florida after leaving the Army and soon returned home to rent a house in Brentwood, MO which he would eventually purchase from his landlord and reside in for the remainder of his years.

Mike became a successful salesman, business owner, and never stopped coming up with ideas for the next enterprise. His ventures included working for Lee Paper Company, selling cleaning supplies for Chemco Industries, and a variety of entrepreneurial efforts. In the early 2000’s, he adored working with his son Brandon at his self-owned LLC, Class Action Lawsuit Consultants.

Mike loved baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals, and Stan “The Man” Musial was his childhood hero. He shared that passion with his son, Brandon, and one of their proudest achievements was attending 33 consecutive Opening Days together. Mike also enjoyed playing baseball himself and was a talented catcher. So much so that he joined an Over-40 League in the early 1990’s where he was proud to have caught for former Cardinals pitcher, Pat Perry. Mike wasn’t a homerun hitter, but he was happy to divulge that he had the highest batting average on the team.

While Mike resided in Brentwood for over 40 years, he couldn’t stay in one place too long. Mike had an insatiable urge to explore. He traveled the globe and some of his favorite places were San Diego, CA, Tampa Bay, FL, Las Vegas, NV, Costa Rica, and Thailand. He loved the beach, camping, playing golf, poker, and going “all in” in every aspect of life.

There are no words to describe how much Mike loved music. He kept the same Elvis Presley pocketknife in every car he owned and one song he would often request was “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor. Mike was a tremendous dancer and spent countless hours showing off his moves, line-dancing his way through the night. Some of his favorite places to dance were Incahoots in St. Charles, MO and Wild Country in Collinsville, IL. In his later years, he enjoyed music festivals where he felt welcomed and loved by countless friends. One of his last wishes was to have his ashes spread at Astral Valley in the Missouri Ozarks where he attended many festivals.

At Mike’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, if you find yourself at a concert with “something to lean on and a good view of the stage” please know he’s right there with you. In his honor, we know Mike would love for you to become an organ donor. Donations on Mike’s behalf can be made to Ocean Conservancy at oceanconservancy.org. Mike and his one of a kind charisma will be dearly missed.

Big brother you were always so happy when our big family got together. I remember the reunion in Collinsville and the big bbq we had. I think you bought big squirt guns for all of the kids – you being the biggest kid of all! I also remember you coming to California and staying with Jenn and I. We went to the water park in Palm Springs and you and I went line dancing at Midnight Cowboy. I will hold on to the fond memories and know that you will live on in the hearts of those who love you. You will be missed.

    Love you,
    Your littlest sis Kathleen
