Nancy Almeda Hall Mendenhall, 86, lost her battle with Parkinson’s and passed away on March 29, 2022 in Town & Country, Missouri, with her loving husband by her side.
Nancy was born on May 6, 1935 in Savanah, Georgia to Vernon Hall and Nan Waters Hall. She graduated valedictorian from Beaufort High School, Beaufort, SC in 1952. She attended Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern) and joined Eastern Airlines as a flight attendant in 1956. She met her husband, Ivan Franklin Mendenhall, while vacationing in Bermuda where he was stationed in the Navy. She married Frank on February 22, 1959 in Beaufort, SC. They had 3 children, Kathryn Nan, Franklin Scott and Lisa Gayle.
From 1959-1975, she was a military wife and mother. During this time, she volunteered with several organizations and worked parttime at the local elementary school in Dublin, California. After retiring from the Navy in 1975, Frank, Nancy and their children moved to Pea Ridge, Arkansas where she worked in their family-owned grocery store until 1978. From 1978-1980, she worked at the Rogers Historical Museum and continued there as a volunteer for many years. She later ran for Pea Ridge City Council, serving 2 terms from 1989-1992.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Nan Hall and an infant brother Bobbie Vernon.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Frank, her children, Kathryn Sparks (partner Kevin Hollman), Scott Mendenhall and Lisa (husband Chuck) Knight; her brother Jerry Hall, and God sister, Arlene Hull; her grandchildren, Courtney Sparks, Addie Morrone, Colin Mendenhall, Sam Sparks, Nicholas Mendenhall and Lynsey Mendenhall; and her great- grandchildren Layla, Finlee, Bellamy and Elsie.
Nancy was a true southern lady. She always put the needs of her family before her own. In the last 2 years of her life, she struggled with the effects of Parkinson’s, but was lovingly cared for by her husband and family. She never complained and was always patient and kind. She accepted her condition with dignity and grace. Her family will miss her always.
