Reba M. Kent, 95, formerly of Peoria, Illinois, passed away Sunday September 9, 2018. She was born Dec 5, 1922, in Thackeray, IL and married Merle L. Kent on August 12, 1945.

She was born December 5, 1922 in Thackeray, Illinois to Franklin and Angeline [Williams] Miller. She married Merle L. Kent on August 12, 1945.

She is survived by a son, James C. Kent (Patricia) of Manchester, MO. “Gram” to Kathleen Jenson (Patrick) of Chicago, Kent Garibaldi (Joi McQueen) of Detroit, Tracey Whitaker (Michael) and Andrew Kent of St. Louis. “Gram-Gram” to 5 great-grandchildren and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Merle; daughter Janet Garibaldi (William), parents, Frank and Angeline Miller; and siblings, Edward Miller, Edna Gherardini, Edith Johnson, Ralph Miller, Irma Cape, and Mary Hiett.

She worked at many places including RG LeTourneau Equipment Manufacturing and Yeomans Distributing Company in Peoria. She was an active member of the Mossville United Methodist Church as well as a parent leader at Wilder-Waite Grade School and Dunlap High School.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Mossville United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 28, at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Mt Hawley Cemetery in Peoria.

Memorial donations are requested to the Mt. Hawley Cemetery Association, (6131 N Oak Point Ct., Peoria, Illinois 61614). The Cemetery is a volunteer service operation where the Kent family has had a long history of involvement. Donations will be put toward the replacement of the iron fence.
