Robert (Bob) J. Leady of St. Louis, Missouri, age 81 died on Saturday, June 9, 2018 due to complications of dementia at Avalon Gardens Nursing Home, where he was lovingly referred to as “Blue Eyes” by the staff.

Bob will be fondly remembered as bad joke connoisseur, teller to tales, and chocolate lover. He will be remembered for his love of his family, fondness of children, and kindness.

Robert was born in Alton, IL on December 4, 1936 to parents Julia and Elmer Leady (deceased). Robert spent a few years in the army and was a house painter for the majority of his career. He was an avid bowler and fisherman.

Robert will be lovingly remembered by cherished companion, caretaker and former wife Ardyth Love Leady, daughter Michele (William) Mohr, and grandson Tony (Christina Marie) Asher, as well as his siblings, nieces and nephews and extended family. He leaves behind his twin brother William Leady of Troy, Il and half-brother Willard “Lefty” Grove. Preceded in death by brother Charles Leady, sister Carol Unternahrer, and half-brothers Wilbur and Eldon Grove.

The family wishes to to express appreciation to loving niece, Stephanie Powers, who endured years of bad jokes and provided love and healthcare guidance. Appreciation is also expressed to Cardinal Ritter Adult Day Care, St. Louis Veterans Jefferson Barracks and John Cochran Veterans Hospital staff for their loving care. Special thanks to the staff at Avalon Gardens Nursing Home for their loving care during Robert’s final months.

Visitation will be held at St. Louis Cremation, 2135 Chouteau Ave, St. Louis, Mo 63103 on Wednesday, June 20 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. with cremains interment at Jefferson Barracks National National Cemetery on Friday, June 22 at 12:45 p.m.
