Robert Walters
Robert (Bob) Eugene Walters passed away quietly at home on January 4, 2017 after a two year battle with breast cancer, he was 66. “Gene”, as he was affectionately called, was a retiree of the St. Louis City Department of Parks and Recreation where he held the title of Supervisor II. He began working at a young age helping his grandfather sell produce off the back of his pick-up truck and also helping out when his grandfather opened a small market, ‘Tom’s Food Shop” on the corner of Louisiana and Chippewa in South St. Louis. He was a mechanic by trade and an avid NHRA fan, and had many opportunities working on hot rods and funny cars in the 1970s. In his retired life he enjoyed tinkering in his garage, movies (he was a huge fan of John Wayne), trips to visit family in North Carolina, his pets, and spending time with his family(especially his grandchildren).
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Sandra (nee Reiling), his daughter Crystal (James) Yount, his son Robert “B.J.” (Sarah) Walters, his sister Jessie Rose, sisters-in-laws Alberta Reiling and Corazon Reiling, his grandchildren Danielle and Robert, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends that had became as family to him. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle and friend.
Gene was cremated as per his wishes and the family will be having a small memorial service for him on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 2pm-5pm at St. Louis Cremation located at 2135 Chouteau Ave. St. Louis, MO 63103 (314)241-8844

To Sandy and the family, I am so, so sorry at the loss of Gene. I know he was suffering somewhat the last time I visited with him. Just letting you know you are in my thoughts. I miss everyone.
