Ronald Lee Hollenbeck

Our beloved dad, Ronald “Ron” Lee Hollenbeck passed away on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at the age of 83. Loving father of Kim Chandler-MacDonald (nee Hollenbeck) and Andy MacDonald; Dana Sieges (nee Hollenbeck) and Mike Sieges; caring friend to Diane Slattery (Hollenbeck); cherished grandfather to Colin (Hannah) Chandler, Luke Sieges, Emily Sieges, and Jake Sieges; great grandfather of Noa Chandler and Tatum Chandler; dear brother to the late Gerald Hollenbeck and dear brother-in-law to Barbara Hollenbeck; dear Uncle to Kevin (Nancy) Hollenbeck, Kara (Jeff) Williams, Loving son of the late Joseph and late Dorothy Hollenbeck (nee Rohrbacker) as well as Grand, Great Uncle, and cousins.

Ron grew up in North St. Louis and graduated from McBride High school in 1958. He enjoyed playing baseball, and always had a love for the St. Louis Cardinals. He served in the United States Army reserves for 6 years with his lifelong friend Leo Morrell. He was honorably discharged in November 1965. Ron became a salesman for Union Electric Company where he met Diane Lee Rohr. They were married in 1965 and resided in Oakville, MO. He attended Washington University School of Continuing Education and completed a Certificate in Business Administration in 1974. He was a highly successful sales leader and a mentor to many throughout his career.

Along with his wife Diane, Ron especially enjoyed  spending time with his two daughters Kim and Dana creating many fond memories swimming, mini-golf, waterslides, go-carts, Silver Dollar City, horseback riding fish-fry’s at Table Rock Lake in Kimberling City near Branson, Missouri. An avid fisherman, Ron also enjoyed trout fishing with his brother Jerry and his family at Bennett Springs. He loved taking his daughters camping, fishing and boating with Tony and Terry and friends at Stockton Lake. Ron had two bird dogs, he enjoyed quail hunting with Gene Rohr, Ed Dammrich and Oscar Rohr. Kim and Dana loved going to Union Electric County Club while Ron and the family enjoyed playing sand volleyball. Ron also liked to bowl and was on a bowling league for many years. Known for his friendly, and social nature Ron was the exalted ruler for the Crestwood Elks Lodge. After a 35-year career with Union Electric, Ron retired at the age of 55. He continued to built his specialty advertising customers with dedication, professionalism and high standards after he retired and serviced them for more than 20 years. He also liked to tell jokes and make people laugh. He occasionally enjoyed a good cigar and hi-ball. His two daughters were the light of his life. He loved spending time with his family, attending and hearing about his grandchildren’s sports and activities.

He will be held forever in our hearts, so dearly. Service and family celebration of life to be announced later.     Uncle Ron loved Kim, Dana and his family with all his heart. I will miss him, especially in the trout stream. I will always cherish the memories we had together as I cast a line, sip on a highball, maybe consider a cigar, and forever feel my Uncles love.

    Ron was a friend & co-worker for several years at Union Electric. He was always ready to party & have a good time. Kim & Dana were the light of his life. I’m so sorry to hear that he has passed; you have my sincere condolences. May your happy memories with him comfort you.
