Stephen Albert Albrecht
Loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many, passed away on July 2, 2013, at the age of 72. Steve was born in St. Louis on March 9, 1941, to Melba Albrecht and the late Irwin Albrecht.
He was preceded in death by sister, Linda Biermann, brothers, Tim Albrecht, Christopher Albrecht (Corky), Robert Albrecht (Bunky), two brothers-in-law: Bill Adams and Gordon Biermann, and nephew, Jason Schwab.
He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Irwin (Peggy) Albrecht, Rick Albrecht, Sherri (Jim) Schwab, Kippi (Gary) Bay, Terri Adams, Phil Albrecht (Flip), Cindi (Dave) Roth, and Jeff Albrecht (Chip) many nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and his special care givers at Pacific Care Center where he resided for the past five and a half years.
Steve received his education at O’Fallon Technical High School and attended University of Missouri, Columbia. He proudly served in the US Army for six months in1964, being honorably discharged as his disability became apparent. Steve worked as an usher at the Tivoli Theater and later settled into employment at Alvey Conveyor as a computer programmer where he remained for nearly 30 years.
He was very involved with the Boy Scouts in his earlier years, reaching the position of Assistant Scoutmaster. His readiness to help was evident to his brothers, sisters and friends as he became the go-to-guy for assistance at tax time.
Stephen loved his cars, his family and Marilyn Monroe. He was well loved and will be remembered by those who had the good fortune to know him.
A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 (1:00-4:00 pm), at Tri- County Senior Community Center, 800 West Union, in Pacific, MO.
Stephen had requested cremation; and arrangements are pending for a Military Burial of his remains at Jefferson Barracks.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to MDA.
