Timothy Ross Nelson

Timothy Ross Nelson, age 60, asleep in Jesus, Saturday, April 21, 2018. Timothy is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Nora K. Nelson; three grown children; Erika Lee Ann Gurley, Eva Marie Kristin and Gregory Ross; a grandson, Myles Franklin Gurley; his mother, Barbara Leist Nelson; Father-in-law, Gert Kriese; and many friends and students.

He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church and played in the Bell Choir.

He was born on August 30, 1957 in Tampa, Florida. He developed Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes at age 12, and over the years the constant assault of this insidious disease weakened his heart. He succumbed to heart failure while working in the back yard of his home.

When Tim was 2 years old, he and his parents moved from Tampa to Colorado, later to Idaho and finally to St. Louis in 1967. During his teen-age years, he spent his summers in Colorado with his grandparents, where he learned valuable carpentry skills from his Granddad. That is also where he learned to love and explore the great outdoors.

Timothy graduated from Lutheran High School South in 1975. He attended St. Louis Community College from 1976 to 1978.

He was contracted by Anheuser Busch which resulted in Tim becoming full-time as a draftsman and eventually as an engineer. He was employed by Anheuser-Busch and Anheuser Busch InBev for 33 years. While at Anheuser-Busch he attended Webster University, and earned a degree in Computer Science.

For the past five years, Tim has been an electrical instructor at Rankin Technical College where he taught his electrical skills to his students.

Tim loved to build things; he loved his family and his dogs; he loved God and all of God’s great creation; he loved the outdoors and loved to camp; he loved to travel and see new sights; especially when he could ride his prized Harley-Davidson across country with his friend.

Memorials may be made to Gethsemane Lutheran Church; American Diabetes Association; St. Louis Heart Association; Needy Paws Rescue—St. Louis.

Memorial Service will be Sunday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3600 Hampton Ave.
