She was very active in her children’s lives as she served as Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader and attended numerous swim meets, marching band tournaments and soccer games. Her activity did not stop with her kids, it continued as she spent numerous days sitting on the sidelines of a soccer field, piano recitals, karate tournaments and more FaceTime calls than could be counted, visiting her grandchildren.
In 1999 she became an active member of the St. Louis Chapter of Love on A Leash providing pet therapy all over the greater St. Louis Area.
She was very involved in her community, specifically with programs like Love On A Leash and Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered as an usher at the Fox Theater for 21 years.

Gwen was a longtime very dear friend and we will really miss her. We had many fun times together both in Love on a Leash and at get-togethers at her condo. I chuckle each time I think of her cats crawling up on our shoulders for attention when we would visit her. RIP my dear friend.
Look up “kind” in t he dictionary and you will find a picture of Gwen. She will be missed so much.
Gwen was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. When one of our dogs went missing, Gwen joined many other Love On A Leash Therapy Dog (and cat) members to come and search, hang flyers, and go door to door. A couple of times she cancelled plans she had already made to come help, as she said her conscience wouldn’t let her do something frivolous like going to lunch with a friend when my husband and I were suffering so. I have no doubt that “Auntie Gwen” is up in heaven petting our Cloe along with all the animals she has helped and loved on over the years ????
Gwen was the kindest neighbor when we moved across the street in 1977 or 78. She helped our teen son adjust to a new area and school. Always the friend you could count on. Found a Christmas card last week from her and was going to make contact. We have been in Virginia since 1987. Just found the obit. If you think of it, do it.
