Anthony L. Shaw
Anthony Lee Shaw, age 74, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, after a
battle with cancer.
Tony was a decorated Vietnam Army Veteran and Reservist. He was a specialist in multi
engine single rotor aircraft and was an aircraft and helicopter mechanic. He was expert
in the M-14 rifle. After an honorable discharge, he became an expert marksman and became a
private pilot, and loved flying in bad weather.
Tony was a hardworking and successful businessman and one of two partners in a
company called Advantage Sales Group. He traveled the world and had friends and
business connections in many countries. He was multitalented. He would build and repair
things that others would enlist a professional to do. If he didn’t know how to do it, he
would look it up on the internet and figure it out.
He was an intelligent, enterprising person, embracing new technology that we encounter
in our everyday lives and always willing to help others who were challenged by it.
He was generous with his time and resources with friends in his personal life and supported many charities and organizations.
He was an avid Cardinals baseball fan. If he wasn’t at the game, he was usually in his
recliner watching it on his big-screen TV with his dog, Quilla, on his lap and his two cats on
the armrests competing for his attention. They loved him and he loved them.
Preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Albert L. Shaw, brother Art, sister Sandy,
and niece Tracy Wilbert. He is survived by his longtime companion and wife Michele Van Drew,
sister Victoria Pilla (Daniel), nephews (Neil Pilla, Tony Pilla, Joseph Metcalf, Christopher Wilbert,
Keith Wilbert and Perry Wilbert), business partner (Roy Linhardt), extended family, and many friends.
Tony will be dearly missed, and many will feel lost without him.
Military graveside service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Monday, October
18, 2021 at 11:30. Please assemble at the main gate of the cemetery by 11:15. Masking
required. If you would like to participate in the procession from the funeral home to the
cemetery, please assemble by 10:15 for a 10:45 depart at St. Louis Cremation: 2135

I worked with Tony for many years in a mfg. rep. agency, Professional Sales Midwest. He was a gifted salesman, honest and a great friend. We stayed in touch over the years. Our phone calls usually lasted a couple of hours before we realized it. I will miss my good friend. RIP Tony and create a warm place for me for when we meet again.
Tony was like the older brother I never had. He was so kind to me through all these years. Always extremely helpful when I would get stuck trying to fix my car…. and other odd jobs….
I always looked up to Tony – and had nothing less than the absolute highest respect for him……
He added so much light to our lives…..
Tony will be sorely missed by all of us who were blessed to know him…..

Tony was a friend, simply put. We had many similar interests but the top was both our desires to take care of the customer, regardless the effort involved. Tony ALWAYS did the right thing.
I’ll miss the lunches at Buffalo Wild Wings, where he would buy lunch for any servicemen in uniform. I’ll miss this passion for selling, but most of all I’ll just miss Tony.

Tony was a sales representative for our company for twenty years . No one worked harder or offered more help to our staff to improve sales. He was also a great friend and I feel I learned a great deal from Tony over the years . He will be missed .

A super salesman, very honest, totally loyal and a great business partner and friend for over 25 years. Tony could make anyone laugh with his self deprecating style of humor. He could talk to anyone and never met a stranger. He always had a good story to share. Some I’d heard a hundred times before, but I wish I could hear them many more times now.
I miss you today and will miss you every tomorrow. You were a good man…..

Tony was an amazing friend. He helped me in so many ways. I remember our first meeting like it was yesterday. If I ever needed anything, he was there. When I decided to make the leap to the sales side , Tony was one of the first people I called . He gave me advice , guidance and most of all friendship.
You will be sorely missed my friend.
