Bertha Ann Johnson

October 8, 1980 – December 8, 2021

Bertha Ann Johnson was born on October 8, 1980, to Bertha Lowe Welch and John Edward Welch in Alexandria, Louisiana. Her father preceded her in death. She attended Ruby Wise Elementary School, Pineville Junior High School, and Pineville High School where she graduated in 2000.

Bertha was baptized at a early age at Annadale Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Edward Gordon Sr. As a child, she enjoyed reading and playing with her siblings and cousins. In high school she was a member of the Junior ROTC Program and participated in the Color Guard. During high school, she also worked at Montgomery Ward clothing store until moving to North Carolina. Between 2001-2003 she attended Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville NC.

In February 2004, she met the love of her life, Scott Brooks Johnson at Dollar General where she worked as a manager in Alexandria, LA. Soon they became inseparable. They married July 15, 2006, and started a family right away. They bore a son who preceded her in death, Seth Anthony Johnson. Shortly after, Scott Brooks Johnson Jr. was born, and soon after Soloman Bradley Johnson was born.

The family moved to St. Louis, MO in 2011 and later Skyler Blake Johnson was born. Bertha had a natural knack for retail. She excelled to management in every position because of her glowing personality and her willingness to assist others. She never met a stranger and was always available to lend a helping hand.

Bertha is survived by her husband, Scott Johnson, her sons: Scott, Solo-
man and Skyler. Her mother, Bertha Lowe Welch, Mother-in-Law, Di-
anne L. Johnson, Sister-in-Law, April Patrick, six maternal siblings: Mel-
vin James Lowe of Alexandria, Louisiana, Janice Holden Rounds

(Linqueal) of Fayetteville, NC, Louise Chapman (Todd) of Baker, Louisiana, Kelvin Welch of Alexandria, Louisiana, Anthony Welch (Charlene) of Sumter, South Carolina, Shewanda Welch-Powell of Alexandria, Louisiana, Da’Karius Donte Holden of Fayetteville, NC, nine paternal siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins aunts and uncles.
