Phyllis Abbott

 Phyllis Kay Abbott, 82, died at 12:42 pm Friday 2-18-2022 at The Community Manor Nursing Home in Farmington MO. She was born on November 17, 1939 in Malden, MO to Luther ( Luke ) and Verda Mae Younger. She was married to Fred Abbott for over 25 years; he preceded her in death.
    Surviving are her three sons Lucas Abbott and his wife Misty Abbott and their children Cassi Abbott, Nick Abbott, Anna Abbott and Kylee Lukefahr of Perryville, Mo; Joseph Abbott and his wife Christina Abbott of Murphysboro, IL; Jeb Baum and his wife Mary Baum and their children Lauren and Carli of Denver, Co; daughter Betsy Bobbitt Evans and her husband Don Eanvs and her children Lee, Scott, and Evan of Houston, TX; Sister Caroline Polsgrove, niece Junnell Lantz –, both of Rockford, IL area.
    Kay had a long career as a Regi
stered Nurse in the St Louis Area.  She had a lot of compassion for her patients and loved helping people. She very much enjoyed her career and had the utmost respect for the profession. She also worked side by side with Fred in the Food and Beverage business through the 1980s.
    Kay was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to talk/argue about politics and all challengers were welcome.  She was very much a patriot and had the highest regard for the country and military.
    Kay had a strong will and faced many challenges during her life.  She did what she wanted to do when she wanted to do
 it.
Her fiery personality and headstrong disposition will be missed by all that knew her.

    I Loved your mother Kay as a sister and close friend. When we first met at St Genivieve County Memorial Hospital we would get into some spats , due to us both having similar personalities. But as we grew working together and helping each other through difficult times , we became best friends . I will certainly miss her.
