Jim Sims, Sr.
The sun rose on the life of Mr. Jim Leonardo Sims, Sr. on June 27, 1951 in East Saint Louis, Illinois. He was born to the late Jack and Fannie Mae Sims and from this union he was the 12th child out of 18 children.
Jimmy graduated from East Saint Louis Lincoln High School in June, 1969. He was a hard worker throughout his life. He worked at Leading Food Store while attending high school. After graduating high school, he went to the Missouri School of Mines and Metallargy in Rolla, MO and became a chemical analyst to work for Monsanto in Sauget, IL. When laid off, he worked at 17th Street Grill for a few months and then went to work for Union Pacific Railroad in Dupo, IL. From there he went to Chrysler Corporation in Fenton, MO where he retired.
Jimmy was always a breath of fresh air. He always had a joke for you if you could catch it with his fast talking and stuttering. He was definitely the life of the party and all who knew him enjoyed his company. Family gatherings and trips will never be the same without him.
Jimmy had 44 wonderful years of sharing life with his wife Sharon Sims. Once they both retired from Chrysler Corporation they enjoyed traveling together and spending time with their grandchildren.
The sunset on Mr. Jim Sims life on February 20, 2022 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family when he lost his battle with colon cancer. He will definitely be missed. We love you dear husband, dad, uncle, brother, friend and grandfather.

He also had 19 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.
Laughing won’t be the same without you, Uncle. You will truly be missed. I love you.
I will miss your sense of humor. You always kept me laughing. RIP to the best Father in Love
Uncle Jimmie definitely was a ball of sunshine. Not only did he make us laugh but he laughed at his own jokes while telling them. That man could’ve been an auctioneer with his fast-style of talking. You will be missed. I’m grateful I had a chance to make him laugh a few months ago.
Our heartfelt condolences to you Sharon, and the family. Cousin Jim (Jimmy) was a constant delight to be around. Always with a warm smile and some great jokes and crack-ups. And sometimes couldn’t get the joke or crack-up out because he was laughing so hard himself in telling it. Will miss you cousin. You were always a delight to see at the family reunions. You may not be here with us physically, but your light will always burn bright. To the family, in this time of your great grief, you didn’t lose a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, but gained a wonderful guardian angel and a strong advocate in heaven. Love is never gone, and never goes away.
May the peace and comfort of our Lord and God be with you all.
The Blanks Family (Kelvin, John, Stella, Kim & Nancy)
Condolences and prayers to Sharon & the Sims Family. May Jehovah wrap his arms around you during this time and give you the comfort that’s needed. As a Family, you will help each other as time passes. Jimmy will be missed but never forgotten.
