Raymond Juergens, Jr.
Raymond “Ray” John Juergens Jr., 97, of Wildwood passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 29, 1924 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Raymond J. Sr. and Anna (Proost) Juergens.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret A. (Mitchell), of Wildwood, whom he married on November 18, 1961; four children Louis (Sharon) Juergens of Landrum, SC, Anne Juergens (Jim Ritter) of Cincinnati, OH, Tom (Bettye) Juergens of Dittmer, MO, and Beth Juergens (Jon Wood) of Washington, MO; four grandchildren: Ben Juergens (Largo Haight), Maggie (Patrick) Deal, Rachel Juergens (Matt Shea), Josh (Daysha) Juergens; three great-grandchildren: Cooper and Cameron Deal and Adelaide Juergens; one sibling: Sister Audrey (Raymond Ann), BVM of Dubuque, IA and many other extended family members and friends.
Ray attended McBride High School and graduated in 1942; the University of Missouri Rolla in 1948, with studies in metallurgical engineering and received his master’s degree at Washington University St. Louis in 1960. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. At age 91, he traveled to Washington D.C. on the Honor Flight.
Ray was employed for 35 years as an engineer at McDonnell Douglas. He was named an Engineering and Research Fellow in 1986 and retired in 1987. He appreciated art, sailing, fishing, gardening, listening to classical and polka music, attending Shakespeare and other theatrical performances. Ray’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. No funeral services are planned. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
