Donald “Donnie” Foelsch (aka, Diamond Don)

Donald “Donnie” Foelsch (aka, Diamond Don), age 49, passed away March 14, 2022.

Donald Thomas Foelsch was born September 23, 1972, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Donald  Arthur Foelsch and Verna Jean (nee Williams) Foelsch. Don was the youngest of six children and  is survived by his mother and 5 siblings: Donna Jean, Christy Lyn, Steven James, Scott Raymond,  and Douglas Arthur Foelsch (Sue), seven nieces and nephews: Shawn Tate, Bryant Tate, Taylor  Krebs, Reagan Foelsch, Hayden Tate, Georgia & Lucille Tate, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Born and raised in St. Louis (Crestwood), MO, Don was educated in the Lindbergh School  District. He attended Watson Elementary & Sperreng Middle school and was a 1991 graduate of  Lindbergh High School.

After high school graduation, Don joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1991 where he achieved the  rank of Lance Corporal in the 5th Marines, 1st Division and was honorably discharged in 1995. LCPL Donald Foelsch was extremely proud of being a Marine and felt a strong connection to  every Marine Corps veteran that he met.

In his youth, Don played Khoury League baseball and was a member of the LHS wrestling team.  Don loved attending Major League Baseball games and watching professional football and  hockey. Music was one of Don’s great loves – an eclectic mix of musical genres including blues,  punk, rap & jazz – and he usually knew all the lyrics. Don also enjoyed good cigars, cooking,  photography, movies, music, hiking, and cycling. Don never met a stranger and he befriended many people resulting in a wide array of friends and acquaintances from all walks of life who  often knew him as “Diamond Don.”

Thanks to all of those who offered love and support to both Don and his family. Following a  private ceremony with military honors, Don’s cremains will be interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.

Don and his brother Steve are two of my best friends. Although I haven’t seen or talked to Don in some time he was always in my thoughts. I have so many fun and interesting memories spending time with Don. Some of my favorites were hanging out with Don and Steve and our mutual friends. We went through a phase where I would have friends over and Don and I would make artwork. One of my favorite possessions is a quirky drawing he made of a cowboy riding a yellow ducky like a horse. He signed it “For my friend Sandy, ❤️ Don”. I even framed it and it’s one of my favorite things and I will cherish it for the rest of my life. It’s so hard for me to fathom that he is gone. I’ll miss you and your twinkling blue eyes my friend…and that giggle! We will see each other again. My love, thoughts and condolences go out to the Foelsch family and all of Don’s friends. Peace.
