Dorothy Isabel Weiskopf
Weiskopf, Dorothy Isabel, age 95 of St. Louis, Missouri passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 31, 2022. Dorothy was born on January 30, 1927, the daughter of Admiral Dewey Clover and Lydia Johanna, (nee Mueller). On May 7, 1949, she was united in marriage to James Rolland Weiskopf, Sr. Their 63 year commitment of love, sacrifice and faith is evidenced by their 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren
Dorothy grew up in Washington, Missouri. In 1948 she was certified as a teacher by the state of Missouri and began her teaching career at Lyons School. Following her marriage to James, they settled in St. Louis and Dorothy began her life’s passion as a homemaker and mother. Active in the lives of her children as coach, organizer and advocate, she created a supportive, loving and welcoming home. Dorothy was an avid reader, bowler, crafter, camper and Cardinal’s fan, and was always up for a good game of UNO or dominoes.
Dorothy and Jim were pillars at St. Thomas More Catholic Church from its inception to its closing. It was there that they formed many lifelong friendships. Dorothy spent many years coaching teams, organizing events and eventually, running the parish office. After its closing, Dorothy and Jim moved to Lake St. Louis and became members of Immaculate Heart of Mary in New Melle. Again, Dorothy became involved in the parish and was a member of the office staff.
Her legacy will be the gift of her quiet, inspiring faith. A convert to Catholicism, she embraced her faith, her call to sacramental marriage and her vocation as mother with passion and patience.
Dorothy is survived by her children Debby (Dean) Lawler, Connie (Tom) Prendergast, Diana (Bob) Kester, James Jr. (Mary) Weiskopf, Monica (James) Barnes, Bradley (Anna) Weiskopf, her grandchildren, Jeffery Prendergast, Shannon (Joe Miller) Lawler, Erin (Stan) Ponder, Brandon (Kerri) Lawler, Sarah (Andrew) Brubaker, Shane Lawler, Charis (Ben) Meurer, Eileen Weiskopf, Ryan Barnes, Michael Weiskopf, Isabella Weiskopf, Michaela Barnes and Nicolas Weiskopf; as well as her 13 great grandchildren Clara Miller, Lucas and Caleb Ponder, Kailyn, Gavin & Mary Cait Lawler, Grayson, Emma and Evelyn Brubaker, Padraig and Kal Lawler and Ellie and Zachary Meurer.
A private family burial will be followed by a Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 16, 2022, 11:00 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 8 Highway D, New Melle, Missouri, the Reverend James Finder presiding.
The family wishes to thank the sisters and staff at Mother of Good Counsel Home for their extraordinary care of their mother for the last 5 years.

Due to a family commitment, I was not able to attend the Memorial for Dot. So, I am sending my heartfelt sympathy to each of you on the loss of your Mom. She was, like your Dad, a very special person. And, now they leaves a legacy of all their children who will make the world a better place along with their children.
