Phillip Underwood
Phillip Underwood was born April 24,1956 in St. Louis, MO to mother Veola Underwood and father Edward Sampe. He preceded in death by mother Veola Underwood, father Edward Sampe, brother Irvin Underwood Jr, sisters Ora Mae Jackson and Joyce Sampe.
Phillip was educated in the St. Louis Public School System. He then went on to join the Army during the Vietnman Era and Peacetime from March 22, 1975 – May 26,1976. There after he decided to just experience what life was all about. He later gained a job with University of Cincinnati Hospital in the OR. He later returned home to take care of his mother until her passing away. He then decided to get back into the work field at United States Postal Service until he gotten sick and departed this life March 27, 2022.
Phillip leaves to cherish his memories his two children Selena (Taras) Simpson and Phillip Underwood Jr; his grandchildren, Tavion Simpson and Tyrin Simpson; siblings Eric Underwood, Kim Underwood, Alonzo Wilkerson, Rodney Wilkerson, Larry Wilkerson, Jerry Wilkerson, Zaheerah Muhammad, Lamont Sampe, Floyd Sample, Craig Simpson. A special friend Yolanda (Yo-Yo) Cowins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
I had my own notions of grief. I thought it was a sad time that followed the death of someone you love and you had to push through it to get to the other side. But I’m learning there is no there is no other side, there is no pushing through but there is absorption and acceptance. Grief is not a task to finish and move on but an element of yourself, an alteration of your being, a new way of seeing a new definition of self.
Yeah what up pops sorry you going through what you going through. Man you always gone be in my prayers. I’m always gone be a reflection of you, I love you, I’m gone miss you. Keep fighting, I’m sorry I ain’t out there to support you the way I’m suppose to.
You will be loved and missed by many.
