Thomas Michael Bowers

Bowers, Thomas Michael, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away on July 27 at the age of 74, surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Burns Bowers; devoted father of Michael (Gina), Mark (Kelly), and Kevin; loving grandfather of Lauren, Katie, Addy, Matt, Charlie, Ellie, Emme, and Livi; and caring uncle and brother-in-law to many.

Born on August 3, 1947, son of Jack and Bernadine Bowers, and one of 4 brothers, Jim (Paula), Joe (Debbie), and Denny (Paula).

Tom ran his own marketing company for 40 years, while also operating the St. Louis Steamers soccer team in the 1980’s. At the end of his career, he served his alma mater, CBC High School, as fundraising director for the building of the new school.

Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and a smile that could light up a room. He enjoyed traveling, working on home projects, and most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Service: Saturday, August 20 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 243 W. Argonne Drive, Kirkwood, MO 63122. Visitation from 9 to 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 10 a.m.

My friend from grade school at MQP. Only kid to whip me in a boxing match. Leader of our gang who masterminded lots of mischief. One of the Italian boys. Married Nancy Burns, a wonderful woman. I have such wonderful memories of this charismatic man. God bless him and his family.

So sorry to hear about Tom’s passing. He was one of a kind as most people who grew up in MQP knew. He gave me my first Beatles album, allowed me to accompany him on jeep adventures, and took me to La Promenade Militaire in 1964 which required a visit beforehand to meet his grandmother. Who does that? She gave me a gold compact in a black velvet pouch and kissed us both. Never forgot that visit.
He was a true gentleman. I was impressed by how much he loved his mom and made sure she knew it. Your grandpa traveled for long periods of time so I think Tom took up some of that slack. He also trimmed my hair a couple of times, fixed stuff in my parents’ home, and improved the quality of life for many of us. My dad was a Golden Gloves boxer so he and Tom had a singular connection which my dad appreciated. In fact, I think Tom flattened Joe Freschi in a boxing match in grade school. Tom was one of a kind. Love to Nancy and all the family. You all were so lucky to have had him in your lives. Barb Priesmeyer Forst
