Barbara Sue Kemp

On Wednesday October 5, 2022, Barbara Sue Kemp, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home. Barbara (“Barbie”, “Barb”) was 81 years old at the time of her death. Born to Arthur and Helen (Donal) Wigger, she is survived by her only son, Robert Stange and her sister Shirley Lewis and lots of nieces and nephews. She was a praying mom to a prodigal son, as well as a devoted daughter and sister. She was a loving aunt and storyteller to many.  She was a friend to all she met. She attended Bayless High School and continued her education in Cosmetics. She spent her early years making other women look and feel beautiful through cosmetic makeovers at Famous Barr, Macy’s, JCPenney’s and Color Me Beautiful. One glorious day, Jesus did a makeover in her life.  At the young age of 57, as a new creation in Christ, she turned her gift for makeovers into a ministry, sharing the love of Jesus and helping women feel beautiful after going through chemotherapy and other difficult health struggles.

“If you have been stopped, and stunned by a beautiful, sparkling woman who turned your eyes and your heart to Jesus, then you’ve met my Aunt Barbara”, says one of her nieces. “She was a godly woman who loved her bling”, says a dear friend. Her bling became a tool for conversation and opportunity to point others to the saving love of Christ Jesus. Struggling with chronic pain for years did not hinder her devotion to a life of prayer and service to others. Her passion for God’s word became a full-time joy-filled job of sharing the gospel and leading others to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She devoted her time, talents and treasure to many Christ-Centered ministries in the St. Louis area. A few of these ministries include local nursing homes, Operation Christmas Child, New Life Evangelistic Center, Helping Hands Ministry, U turn for Christ, and others where she freely shared the love of Jesus.  Her life was a living example of the joy of the Lord and the transforming power of Our Savior who delights in redeeming sinners as saints.

Please join us for a celebration of her life at Rockport Baptist Church, 3761 Telegraph Road, Arnold MO 63010, on October 29th at 11 am.

One way to Heaven:  Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 1:4 NIV)

When God blessed Barb with a key thob story. Have you ever had the battery go dead every month or two? Well Barb did and I told her she should buy some stock in batteries. After a year of this I said let’s see if itsa defective key thob. I went to to dealer with her and no nothing wrong with the thob. I asked Barb do you ever set the panic alarm off on the thob? Now you have to remember we traveled to alot of store parking lots working sometimes five or six in a day and they would be packed full of cars. Barb looked at me and said yes everytime I go out to the car so I can find it! I will forever remember all the smiles, laughter, and stories.God blessed us all with Barb!
