Janet Lee Delaloye

On Friday, October 28, 2022, Janet Lee (McCulloch) Delaloye, loving wife, mother of three, and grandmother of six, passed away at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Arlene, and two sisters, Janice and Charlotte.

Janet was born on July 9, 1940, along with her twin sister Janice, in Grinnell, IA. She graduated from Newburg High School (Newburg, IA) in 1958. She and her twin moved to Des Moines, IA shortly after graduation, where she attended the American Institute of Business and Drake University. She worked as a legal secretary and traveled whenever she could. In 1963, Janet met the love of her life, Pat Delaloye, on a blind date. Always ready for adventure, when Pat decided to attend graduate school in Wichita, KS, she elected to move along with him, continuing her legal secretary career. On September 5, 1964, she and Pat married. Their older daughter, Michelle Pallutch (Ken) was born in Wichita, shortly before they moved to New Orleans, LA. They added a son, Joe (Lisa), during their time in the Big Easy, before eventually settling in St. Louis, MO. Their younger daughter, Christy Schiller (Keith), was born in St. Louis, where they raised their family.

Janet was kind, gentle, intelligent, funny, artistic, and loyal. She loved children, art, beautiful music, politics, and nature. A friend to all animals and a perpetual champion of the underdog, she was also a wry observer, witty commentator, and world traveler. Family was always the most important thing in Janet’s life and in addition to her role as loving mother to her three children, she was absolutely devoted to her six grandchildren: Olivia (Parker), Mark, Kate, and Hilary Delaloye and James and Helen Schiller. Janet was never happier than during family gatherings in her home, surrounded by her loved ones and with her beloved dog, Wild Bill, by her side.
