David Philip Hood passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022 at the age of 79 survived by his wife of
59 years, Erica Lynne, and their two sons, Stephen and Philip (Sandy).
Born in Newark, New Jersey, David graduated from Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg, NJ. Upon his
graduation, David enlisted with the United States Air Force and was stationed in England serving at both
RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath. While serving in England, he met and fell in love with his soon to
be bride, Erica Lynne Brasenell. Upon his honorable discharge in 1965, David moved his wife and two
sons back to New Jersey where he took a job with Riegel Paper in Riegelsville, NJ. After acquiring an
Associate’s degree in the newly formed computer science field, David took his programming skills to
work for Ecolaire Condenser in Easton, PA. In 1985, David relocated his family to St. Louis, Missouri and

David was an active participant in his church serving as Elder and Treasurer for the now disbanded
Maryland Heights Presbyterian Church. David’s passion was playing softball and was known to
participate in multiple leagues every week well into his mid-70s. Up until his passing, he was also an avid
participant in the Senior Olympics and would travel across the country to participate in local, State,
National, and World events often bringing home a slew of medals from each event. While participating
in the Sr. Olympics, he discovered his natural ability to throw the javelin in which he excelled. During his
retirement years, travel was on the agenda with David and Erica Lynne going on multiple cruises every
year. When not on the softball fields, the Sr. Olympic fields, or the decks of cruise ships, David could
always be found tending to the vast gardens he kept at his home.
