Genara Ellen Barton
Genara Ellen Barton (Ray) was born to Agnes Ray (Bachmeier) and Gordon Ray on November 23rd, 1965, in Minot, North Dakota. It is with great sorrow that the family announces her passing on November 11th, 2022, surrounded by her family after a tough battle with breast cancer in St Louis Missouri, at the young age of 56.
Gen graduated from Liberty High School in 1985 and became a devoted and passionate certified nursing assistant, caring for others for over 35 years. She loved to help and care for people who needed it the most. Her kind heart and benevolent smile brought joy to everyone that noticed. Being the brave and courageous woman she was, after 2019 diagnosis of breast cancer, surgery, and many rounds of chemo and radiation, she fought hard, worked through the treatment, fearlessly and selflessly just to be there for others who needed her. Stubborn and strong but loving and compassionate to anyone who was a part of her life.
Gen raised 3 children as a strong, independent, hardworking, devoting single mother. Proud of the children she raised, she then found love and married Clifford Barton on August 2nd 2015 and resided in Winona Missouri. Her most fulfilling accomplishment was being the best wife, mother, “Nanny/Nana”, and “Mammy”. Spending time with her grandchildren brought the most joy and happiness to her life. For her, family was everything. Nothing gave her greater pleasure than family get-togethers and attending every school and sporting event of her kids and grandkids.
Gen was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Ray and brother-in-law Steve Wilkins but is survived by her husband, Clifford Barton, her mother, Agnes Ray, her children, Brandon McDaniel, Kaytlin McDaniel, and Megan and Jeffery Daniels, her bonus children Erika and Dustin Johnston, Lizzie Barton and Megan Gipsm, David and Miranda Barton, Sylvia and Bucky Roberts, Beth and Jon Kohn, her grandchildren, Liam, Lawson, Lennox, Kailynn, Kyler, Canaan, Chevy, Isaiah, Landon, Sophia, Colten, Ryan, Owen, Karsyn, Hunter, Lynsie, Lawson, Chloe, Chase, Caselynn, Abby, her sisters, Laura Walton, Debbie Wilkins, Sarah Conway, Sandra Samuels, and Annie Bunton, her brother Howard Ray, sister-in-law Alice Ray, Brother-in-laws, Rodney Walton, Mitch Samuels, and Jamey Bunton, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will never forget her spunky spirit, sense of humor and kind heart.
A celebration of life tree planting memorial will be held in the future by the family.
A life that was taken before her time. Gen will definitely be missed. I always enjoyed getting together when we would come back there. I was lucky I was in her life. I definitely enjoyed our time working together. We always had fun. Gen rest in heaven without anymore pain.
Rest In Peace dear cousin. You are now free of pain. You and Uncle Gordon have a lot of catching up to do.

Rest in peace sweet lady.
Rest In Peace Gen. You were a joy to work with at the nursing home. You knew how to make people laugh even when they didn’t want to. You will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved you. Fly high.
Such a kind and fun person. Working with Genera at Brooke Haven I saw her love for her family. I witnessed her dedication to helping others. Genera enjoyed life, I will remember her with her smile on her face while we laughed together at something happening. She will be missed.
I knew her while I worked in Missouri. I moved suddenly and just found this. How very sad. Brooke Haven has lost someone important, it echoed all the way down here in Arkansas. So very sorry for her family and friends loss.
