James Croskey

James (Jim ) Croskey

March 17 1943 – Nov 23 2022

Jim passed away peacefully at MO Baptist hospital on Nov 23, 2022 after having open heart surgery.

Jim lived a good life. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting with his father in Des Moines Iowa. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling.

He enjoyed giving his grandchildren rides on the riding mower. He liked making water balloons with the grandchildren and always getting soaked.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Carol (Redel), His son Jeff Croskey, spouse Elizabeth (Willis) and his daughter Susan Pratt. Jim’s brother Rich and his sister Cathleen O’Leary.

Great joy came from his grandchildren, Julia Pratt, Jenna Pratt, Jacob Pratt, Matthew Croskey Mason Croskey

Jim was born in Des Moines lowa. Studied at Dowling High School. He was in the Air Force for 4 years and then moved to St. Louis to work for Delta Airlines as Supervisor of Operations. Retiring from Delta at 52, he started his tax business and enjoyed many clients that became friends.

Jim would have turned 80 on St. Pats Day. He lived a good life and had a peaceful death. We donated his body to St. Louis University Medical School. They will have a Mass on All Souls day in November for the families of the donated at St. Frances Xavier (College) Church.

Any contributions should be made to St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Thanks to all our friends and neighbors that have helped us through this difficult time. Jim would be so proud of his children and thankful for all the friends he made during his lifetime.

Jim was a good friend and terrific neighbor. We enjoyed “short ones” on the patio and several weekend poker hands. He seldom went home broke $ 😁. Come to think I don’t believe he ever lost all of his buy in. He is truly missed and was definitely “one of a kind”, good man, wish I had known him longer.

I echo Greg’s comments completely. Jim, Greg and I enjoyed many happy hours on Greg’s and my patios, also enjoyed poker. Jim was also a pretty good washer player. We invited him to join us for quite a while before he finally accepted. I think we all wished he accepted sooner. Jim was a very good man and will be greatly missed.

I have many fond memories of Jim and Carol, having lived in Emerald Woods for 40 years. My thoughts are with Carol and the rest of the family as they transition into a life without their beloved husband, father and grandpa. His memory will live with you forever.

We send our deepest sympathy to Carol and the Croskey family. We appreciated his work in our little village. He was always sitting so contentedly in the garage when I walked by. He and Mike would see each other when he worked at the airport.
    Love & prayers,

    Carol,
So sorry and shocked to hear about Jim. You and he were great neighbors for 42 years. Your yard was the envy of the neighborhood! Jim surely had a green thumb. He seemed to have really enjoyed his long retirement which was great. Our prayers are with you and your family.

Carol I was so saddened to learn of Jim’s death. I live in the village too and loved to walk and see Jim sitting in the garage or walking with his good friend Craig. May all your good memories warm your heart now and bring you the peace you desire. My prayers are with you and the family.

I’m really sorry to hear this. I’ve known Jim a long time, we used to play golf in the same group on Saturdays at St. Charles Golf Course. And he did my taxes. He was a good man and will definitely be missed.
