Jim Knoerle passed away suddenly at home on January 5, 2023.

He leaves behind his wife, Louise Knoerle, whom he married on February 18, 1978.  Jim is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Thierry Knoerle, Sr. and Ann Webb Knoerle.  He leaves eight surviving brothers and sisters: Joseph Thierry Knoerle, Jr. (Madeline), Mark Knoerle (Valerie), Timothy Knoerle, Katie Matsumoto (Roy, deceased), Michael Knoerle, Pat Knoerle-Jordan (Rick Jordan-deceased), Jeffrey Knoerle, and Peter Knoerle (Christiana).  Beloved son-in-law to Dolorosa Hughes and brother-in-law of Katie Saunders (Woody, deceased).  Uncle, Great-Uncle, and cousin.

Jim spent the first half of his career as a manager for a large collection company. During this time, he and Louise made homes in St. Louis, Missouri; Denver, Colorado; San Antonio, TX; and Columbus, OH, before returning to his hometown, St. Louis.  The second half of his career was spent in the travel industry, working for TWA, American Airlines, and Carlson Wagonlit Travel.

Jim loved to travel.  He and Louise logged many miles in the United States, from Maine to Seattle, seeing many sites between the two coasts.  He was always thinking of where to go and what to see next.  He also enjoyed the road trips taken with his sisters and their husbands.  Being in the travel industry, he and Louise enjoyed international destinations to over a dozen countries.  There were many trips to Germany to visit his brother Pete and wife, Chris.  He enjoyed family reunions at Lake Constance, Germany and having the opportunity to meet his German cousins.  Most years there was a trip to Mexico just to kick back and relax.

Jim enjoyed playing Pickleball.  Before his surgery in 2019, he played twice per week at St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Crestwood.  He was an avid gardener, coin collector, and collector of all things bears (carved, porcelain, stuffed, etc.).  He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues Hockey, and the Kansas City Chiefs.  Jim looked forward to Second Halfers gatherings and his weekly lunches with his good friend and brother in Christ, Jack Chalfant.  He loved spending time with his family and inviting them to events at his home.

Jim was well loved by friends and family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
