Joan Lenori Swoboda

Joan passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long and courageous battle with
progressive Multiple Sclerosis, on Saturday February 11, at the age of 66. Born July 6,
1956, she was the seventh of nine children of Maurice and Lucille (nee Volkerding)
Swoboda. Preceded in death by her beloved parents, sister Karen and brothers Tom
and Donald, she is survived by her loving sisters Renee (Richard) and Janet, and
brothers Bob (Conchita), Dale (Georgalu) and Steve (Chris), and many nieces and
nephews.

Quiet and modest, Joan was an independent self-made woman. She received her BS
from CMSU, working in graphic design for many years. Later in her career she helped
her aging parents with special son Donny’s care until his passing, then oversaw their
care for several more years. She loved to sing, touring with a chorale group in the U.S.
and overseas. Generous of heart, constant of faith, she was the bravest person those
of us who loved her have ever known.

The Memorial Mass will be followed by the burial of her cremains with Maurice, Lucille and Donny.
