Thomas Edward Nichols
Tom passed away at home on March 15th 2023, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was preceeded in death by his parents Thomas W. & W. Jean (nee Dixon) and his beloved son Thomas Joseph (TJ). Tom is survived by his darling wife of 44 years, his best friend & care giver Paula Jo (nee Kelly); sisters Barb, Fran & Laura, and little brother Steve, nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, and some great great’s.
Tom spent his life loving his family, cooking & Q’ing, traveling & following many sports. Man, did he love his sports. We all knew not to call during the “big” game or even the “small” ones. Tom had a personality larger than life and a strong will to fight, which he did over and over.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Childrens Hospital or the Mid West Transplant Center all in St. Louis Mo.
A Memorial Mass and gathering is being planned for early May. Arrangements by St. Louis Cremation 2135 Chouteau Ave.
Bro I love you so much. Thank you for fighting your battles for such a long time just so you wouldn’t have to leave all of us. You will be so dearly missed. I’ll try to keep Paula out of trouble, but that might be “to dream the impossible dream” .

Dear Uncle Tom! You have left a beautiful mark in our hearts and an unfillable hole in this world with your departure. Your generosity, wit and faithfulness are characteristics I will always remember you for. What a wonderful reunion you must be having with TJ and your parents and many others. We send our love and memories to you!
Dear Cousin, your knowledge of numerous topics (including but not limited to travel, wine as well as other liquor, food, culinary arts and mastery of the New York Times crossword puzzle) never ceased to amaze us. You did more living within the too short of time we had you, than most people would do in many lifetimes. Your bravery in conquering your lifetime of adversities and still think of others was inspiring. Rest In Peace beloved cousin and party with the Saints!
Tom, Tomboy,Tommy,Tomaso you definitely suprised me this time! Houdini is probably waiting for you for advice. From the first time we met at your Mom’s birthday party it’s been a hoot being your bro-in-law oops out-law. Who else could give directions and a star rating on restaurants and bars within a 20 mile radius of our European travels. I learned early to avoid trying to drink you under the table, oh the pain. But I’m going to down a Scotch or 4 in your memory. Too soon Bro. I’ll miss you. PS NO worries, attorney-client privilege is sacrosanct. You’ll be fine at the Pearly Gates .
In Tom’s obituary photo, he seems to be looking right at us all, with a warm smile as he makes a final toast. He is forever in our extended family our beloved and irreplaceable Uncle Tom and Brother Tom. Tom taught us so much about courage, humor, perseverance, and love of life. We cannot imagine how many people Tom inspired over the years, and our prayers are for Paula and all who mourn this great man. Rest in peace.
