April 19th, 1936 – April 2nd, 2023

John Fred Mason, age 86, passed away peacefully at Park Place Winghaven on April 2, 2023.  He was born in St. Louis County on April 19, 1936 and attended Wellston High School and the University of Missouri, where he received a bachelor’s degree.  After college, John served in the US Army.  During his long career at McDonnell Douglas, John traveled to more than 30 countries.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Ann Mason (nee Rhoades).

John is lovingly remembered by his children and their spouses Julie (Patrick) Davis of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; John R. (Diane) Mason of Dublin, Ca., and; Janine (Tary) Todd of St. Peters, Mo.  He was the beloved grandfather of Matthew (Grace) Davis, Emily Davis, John C. Mason, Lauren Mason, Tary Mason Todd, and Mary Todd.  He is lovingly remembered by Carol Jobe, his close friend and confidant these past 15 years.  John was a loving uncle, brother, cousin, and friend to many.  He was dearly loved and will be missed.

John was an avid golfer and grower of hybrid daylilies.  He loved gatherings with family and friends, and sharing a beer or glass of wine.  A private ceremony will be held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery in St. Ann.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association (https://www.alz.org) or a charity of your choice.  John’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to the Park Place at Winghaven staff for the care and comfort they provided.
