Gerald Keith Claycomb, M.D.
July 27, 1941 – April 7, 2023
Son of the late Charles and Lucy Claycomb (nee Nickerson); Beloved Husband of Jill Claycomb (nee Armstrong); dear father of Jennifer Lea Claycomb, M.D.; dear grandfather (grandad) of Zola and Vera Colwell: dear brother of Gary Claycomb (Joyce) and Cindy Tersue.
Gerald was born in Trenton, Missouri and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended medical school at the University of Missouri, Columbia and did his residency at Indiana University in radiology. He served as a major in the U.S. Army before beginning his career in radiology, helping many people by utilizing his expertise. Underneath a reserved exterior and wry sense of humor was a deeply caring individual, a nurturer of botanicals of all kinds, a loving husband and father, and a man with a beautiful heart.
A graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery on Tuesday, April 25 at 11:00 am.
In lieu in flowers, donations preferred to Smile Train, Fistula Foundation or MiracleFeet.
Gerry was such a pleasure to get to know. Christmas celebrations and our lovely visit at his garden, which happened to have a home on the land. Beautiful work of art! Gerry always enjoyed talking about medicine. And he really listened to my perspective. Thank you, Jill for bringing Gerry into our Armstrong circle.
A kind and generous former brother in law. Always spoke highly of his beloved wife Jill, his treasured daughter Jennifer and two precious granddaughters. He will be deeply missed by everyone who has known him
