Murphy Glenn
Murphy Joe Glenn, 80,of Ballwin Missouri died Friday, September 18, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Glenn was born July 1, 1929 in Paris, Illinois, the son of Wyman and Syren Glenn. He married Norma Jean Dresback on October 3, 1954 in Champaign, Illinois; she preceded him in death in January 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Matt and George Glenn; and one sister, Helen Glenn Breke.
Mr. Glenn is survived by sons Mark Glenn, wife Patricia, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois; Scott Glenn, wife Sally, of Saint Joseph, Illinois; Keith Glenn, wife Marsha, of Oakley, Illinois; and daughter Denise Goetz, husband Edward, of
Ballwin Missouri. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Richard Maurer, Jennifer Maurer, Ceitlyn Glenn, Christopher Goetz, Katherine Goetz, Kellie Glenn, and Tina Uphoff, and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Brice Uphoff.
Glenn attended Champaign High School where he played football and basketball for Harry Combs. He served in the U.S. Army in the Seventh Cavalry and was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Cross during his tour of duty. Mr. Glenn was employed by Sieg Company, Champaign, Illinois, for 35 years and was active for
more than 17 years in Champaign Little League as President for the Kenwest Baseball League and as an umpire for the organization.
