Baye Webb Brent
Baye Webb Brent 93, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2023. Born August 3,1929 in Gillsburg, Mississippi, the daughter of James Leroy Webb and Ouida Taylor Webb(both deceased). In 1949, she married Joe Purser Brent and had a 70 year marriage lasting until Joe’s death in 2019.They had two sons James P. Brent (deceased) (Teresa Eurom Brent), and Stephen P. Brent (Susie Matteuzzi Brent), granddaughter Jamian Baye Brent (Jordan Smith) and two great-grandsons, Maxwell and Wyatt Smith, cousin Hettye Jean Loch Hunter, sister-in-law Sue Webb and dear aunt and great aunt.
Additionally, Baye had three brothers John(Lillian), James(Sylvia) and Taylor Webb (all deceased).After the death of her mother in 1934 she was raised by her Aunt Alma Webb Noland in McComb, Mississippi. She attended Ole Miss and Southwest Mississippi State Junior College where she met Joe Brent. Baye will be dearly missed by her friends and family.She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, cousin, aunt, great aunt and friend. Baye was a generous, patient and kind southern lady. Her love for her southern heritage influenced much of her life and was evident in her special fondness for southern cooking. Baye was an exceptional cook with a special flair for entertaining especially during the holidays and celebrations. She and Joe enjoyed traveling, gardening, children and dogs. She was a den mother and a retiree from Famous and Barr where she sold fashion clothes. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Dayspring Baptist Church formerly known as the Delmar Baptist Church which was a tremendous blessing in her life. She was forever grateful for the dear pastors and church friends who helped her develop a closer relationship with Jesus and her deep abiding Christian Faith. This gave her strength during her difficult health challenges and hardships. Through it all she remained thankful to God for all his many blessings.
