Milton Lucious Reed Jr.

February 3rd, 1944 – September 21st, 2023

Milton Lucious Reed Jr. was the middle child born to Milton Lucious Sr. and Eloise Sadie Reed on February 3, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri. He joined his older sister Christine and later awaited arrival of his younger brother, Michael. His parents, brother Michael, and granddaughter Princess preceded him in death.

Milton attended Beaumont High School and then decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. After serving honorably, Milton continued his commitment to service and community by joining the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department in 1966. During his tenure, he served as a patrolman, mounted officer, and detective. After 30+ years, Milton retired in 1997.

Milton became the proud father of a precious set of twins, Leslie Rachell, and Lamar Ramon in 1969. While working the desk at Homer G. Phillips Hospital Emergency Room, he met and fell in love with Shirley Riley, and they wed in 1974. Through this union, Milton gained 3 sons and a daughter: Christopher, David, James, and Chrystal.

After retirement from the STLMPD, Milton cultivated his passion for the game of golf, and he spent much of his time with his buddies playing the game and winning many tournaments. He also enjoyed playing golf at Kapalua in Maui, HI. He took his love of golf with him when he and his wife Shirley relocated to Bonita Springs, Florida for 10 years. There, he enjoyed the sun, beach, and most importantly the beautiful greens of which he continued to master his game of golf. In the process, he ignited a passion within his brother-in-law Eric, where they played countless rounds of golf together at the best courses within Southwest Florida.

Upon returning to St. Louis, Milton enjoyed traveling and enjoying his retirement years. He was challenged with a few health issues toward the end of his life, and peacefully transitioned surrounded by family.

Milton is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years Shirley, his children; Leslie, Lamar; his sister, Christine Watson; bonus children, Christopher, David, James (Delores), Chrystal (William); Grandchildren Lamar Jr., Arron, Austin, Gregory, Quiara, Michael, James, Raymond, Chris, Colin; Great-Grandchildren HayLee, Gabrielle; sisters-in law Lorraine Richardson (Eric), Pamela Williams (Jimmie); brother-in-law, Thomas Mason (Queen); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to include special friendships with Willie McPherson (Mack) and Cedric McNeal (Mack).

Visitation will be held at St. Louis Cremation:
