Yolanda Herlon Birk

Yolanda Herlon Birk (Evans) was born August 20, 1967 to Myrtis Betty Evans (Cooper)
and Percy James Williams in Saint Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her
mother, father, and beloved stepfather, Elder Phillip Cooper.

Yolanda was educated in the Saint Louis Public Schools where she graduated from
Soldan High School. She was employed by the federal government at Defense Finance
and Accounting until her health failed. She retired after many years of dedicated service.
Yolanda established lifelong friendships and was well loved by her colleagues.

She confessed her love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Mount Gideon
West Baptist Church. Yolanda became a member of Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist
Church in 1994 under the leadership of Bishop Michael F. Jones, Sr.

To know Yolanda was to love her; especially her cooking. She had a love and gift of
cooking and baking. Yolanda was always happily willing to prepare delicious meals and
cakes for her family, friends and colleagues.

Yolanda recently celebrated her fifty-sixth birthday surrounded by good food, family and
friends. After a long illness, she peacefully departed this life Wednesday morning,
September 27, 2023, surrounded by her family and friends.

Yolanda leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted son, Bryce Xavier Birk, who
she loved dearly and adored. Her dear aunt, Janice Robinson (Oris ‘Robby’); cherished
uncle, Reginald Evans; Patrick Winston, her devoted partner; long-time friends for over
thirty years, Stephanie Patton and Nicole Jones; a host of cousins who were more like her
sisters and brothers, and many dear relatives and friends.

    Hey, Yolanda!
You were a very good friend to me, even though I was older you took me under your wing and taught me the ropes ad a new supervisor I would need to know. You became a confidante, a friend, I hate that I missed calling you on your birthday! I hate that you are no longer here, but I love that you are not suffering! I will miss you till I see you again! I love you!
