Dian Sharma

Dian Sharma, 75, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on October 22, 2023. She was born on
October 30, 1947, in York, PA, to the late Wilson and Virginia Smith. Dian is survived by her
brother, Craig Smith, and cousin, Dawne Gyori. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Dian was a remarkable individual who dedicated her life to public health. She served as the
Health Commissioner in St. Louis and held various positions in epidemiology and communicable
diseases in Tallahassee, Tacoma, and Portland. She was also a professor, researcher, and
consultant in St. Louis, Los Angeles, and other locations. Dian's intelligence and passion for her
work made a significant impact in the field.

Outside of her career, Dian had a vibrant personality and a zest for life. She was known for
her sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with friends. Dian cared deeply for animals and
was actively involved in advocating for their well-being. She was also an active member of the
Lutheran Church of the Living Christ in Florissant, MO.
In her free time, Dian loved indulging in art, music, and exploring new knowledge. She had a
curious mind and was always eager to learn more. Dian also had a passion for good food and
enjoyed trying new culinary experiences.

A visitation will be held at 10 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 AM on November 11,
2023 at the Lutheran Church of the Living Christ, located at 2725 Concord Drive, Florissant, MO
63033. In place of flowers, donations can be made to Lutheran Church of the Living Christ and the
Humane Society.
