Robert Ringstad
Robert Douglas Ringstad passed away peacefully at 5:55 p.m. on December 21, 2023 in the comfort of his home at the age of 65 in St. Louis, MO. He was born in Des Moines, IA on October 28, 1958. Robert is predeceased by his mother (Sharon), brother (Dale), and daughter (Bailey). He is survived by his father (Roger), partner (Pat) of 32 years, son Brett (Selena), daughter Karly (Matt), sisters Judy (Kevin) and Brenda (Phil), nieces, nephews and many loving friends and medical personnel.
Robert worked as a Finance Director and CPA for various non-profit organizations until his ability to do so was cut short due to the progression of Parkinson’s. Robert excelled in athletics throughout his youth and college years, including football, wrestling, baseball and golf. His passion for golf continued until his illness and pain became too unbearable. Robert was happiest when coaching his son and daughter’s sports teams or working on home renovation; he always had a new project to start when he finished the last.
Robert unselfishly donated his brain and skin biopsies for continued research in finding a cure to improve the lives of others with Parkinson’s.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Paul Kotzbauer Parkinson Research Fund at Washington University, or UW Medicine Memory and Brain Wellness Center at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.
A Memorial Service will be scheduled in Altoona, IA at a future date.
I worked with Robert for several years. Regretful to hear of his passing. Prayers to his family. He loved to make jokes. Never made that last lunch date.
Doris, thank you so much for your kind words. Robert loved working and joking with you. He hated having to retire but became too ill to come into the office any longer. One day you will meet again and have that last lunch date.
