Kathy Lynn Clay

In Loving Memory of Kathy Lynn Clay
(October 31, 1957 – January 2, 2024)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kathy Lynn Clay, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Kathy was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Charles and Gloria Harris on October 31, 1957.

Kathy’s educational journey began at Couples Elementary and St. Mark’s Catholic High School, followed by her pursuit of a Journalism degree at St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA. Her passion for storytelling and communication was shown through every aspect of her life.

Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to create “Kathy’s Boutique,” a fashion hub that stood for over two decades as a symbol of inspiration and innovation in entrepreneurship. Kathy’s boutique was more than a business; it was a legacy of her vision and hard work.

Beyond her professional achievements, Kathy was a person of immense dignity, grace, and wisdom. She was known for her ability to listen and impart positive affirmations. Kathy’s love for life was contagious, evident in her hobbies like shopping and skating.   Kathy exuded a  generous spirit, especially towards her nieces and nephews, as she loved them as her own.

In her career, Kathy made significant contributions to McDonald’s Corporation, where her dedication and expertise were greatly admired. She was a role model for her work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Kathy’s warmth and kindness created a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Gloria Harris and sister Gloria Hicks. She is survived by her sisters Sheila (Tyrone) Scales, and Kim Harris; and her beloved nieces and nephews: Gina (Anthony) Jones, Christy Scales, Lauren Turner, London Thompson, Paige Jones, Paris Jones, Kiya Presberry, Joel Scales, and Malcolm (Trudy) Jones, and the St. Agatha Catholic Church and a host of other extended family and friends.  Kathy’s life was enriched by her wonderful, close, and best friends, George Gray and Markita Taylor, who stood by her through life’s journey.

A memorial service to honor Kathy’s life will be held on January 27, 2024, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at St. Louis Cremation located on 2135 Chouteau Ave, St. Louis, MO 63103.  As we gather to bid farewell, let us celebrate the joy she spread and the wisdom she imparted. Kathy’s thread in the tapestry of life was woven with love, compassion, and kindness, enduring beyond time. May she find eternal peace.

In loving memory, we say goodbye to Kathy Lynn Clay, a remarkable woman whose spirit and legacy will forever remain with us.
