Darrell Crider
Darrell Gene Crider, 83, of Sunrise Beach, MO, passed away on Thursday, January 19th, 2024, at SSM St. Joseph West Hospital in Lake Saint Louis, MO. Darrell was born on May 16, 1940, in Bland, Missouri, to Dewey and Esther Crider.
Darrell was the devoted husband of Bonnie G Ellison, and they celebrated over 36 years of blissful marriage after uniting on June 20, 1959. Together, they cherished the gift of five children. Darrell’s role as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend was central to his life.
A dedicated professional, Darrell worked in sales from the age of 21 to 71, successfully owning and operating three different businesses. His commitment and excellence in sales were evident as he consistently secured top positions on leaderboards, regardless of the company he worked for.
Outside of work, Darrell found joy in his 27-year membership at the Elks Lodge, as well as being a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and the Masons. His favorite pastimes included playing cards, observing hummingbirds, and fishing—activities that brought him happiness and relaxation.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Esther, his wife Bonnie, and daughter Brenda. He is survived by his four sons: Russell (Connie) Crider of Wentzville, Missouri; Darrell E. Crider of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Daniel (Sherri) Crider of Eldon, Missouri; and Eugene Crider of Jefferson City, Missouri. Additionally, he is survived by his sister Carolyn Rhoads of Sedalia, Missouri, and eleven grandchildren: Charity, Seth, Grace, Jacob, Matt, Sara, Amber, Kimberly, Christopher, Victoria, and Katrina, along with several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Darrell will be held at the Elks Lodge in Sunrise Beach, MO, at a later date. He was a firm believer in God and followed the Pentecostal Religion. As we remember Darrell Gene Crider, we reflect on the impact of his life—a legacy of love, hard work, and faith. May he rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, his wishes were for memorial donations to be sent to the Seaton Faith Fellowship Church, located at 41758 Co Rd 638, Dixon, MO 65459.
