James Shepardson

September 27th, 1944 – February 5th, 2024

James (Jim) Shepardson passed away at his home on February 5, 2024, at the age of 79.  He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 27, 1944.

He was predeceased by his parents, Wilbur Shepardson and Virginia Shepardson Maule, his stepfather James Maule, Sr., and a stepbrother, James Maule, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Shepardson, a daughter, Debra (Paul) Rubas of Milford, New Jersey; a son, Timothy (Erin) Shepardson of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Benjamin Shepardson, Nathan Rubas, Megan Shepardson, and Anna Rubas; a sister Marilyn (Robert) Wardenburg; a brother John (Sandy) Shepardson; an aunt, Margaret Eakes; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.     

Jim earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from what is now Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri—Rolla) and a Master of Science in Management degree from Maryville University.  After his graduation from college in 1967, he began working at McDonnell Aircraft Corporation (later McDonnell-Douglas and now Boeing) and retired from there in 2007.  When he began work there, the space program was in full swing, and he was enthusiastic about playing a supporting role in it.

While at Boeing he served a term as president of the St. Louis chapter of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).

Active in Second Baptist Church of Greater St. Louis, Jim served as property management chair and later financial secretary.  He volunteered at Potosi Correctional Center, tutoring in the High School Equivalency Test program there.   

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 9030 Clayton Road, Richmond Heights, Missouri, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 and then a luncheon.  The memorial service will be streamed at https://www.facebook.com/155120191289/live/
