Troy Eugene Dawkins

Troy Eugene Dawkins, 58, of Wentzville, graduated to heaven on Saturday, January 6, 2024. He was born in Rolla, MO on March 30,1965 to Gene and Carol Dawkins and was raised in Moberly, MO with his three younger sisters.

Troy will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman by those who knew him. He enjoyed camping, hiking, and collecting and shooting guns. In 2014, he successfully completed the very challenging MR340 kayak race, the world’s longest non-stop river race. Troy loved doing DIY projects around the home, including renovating the backyard complete with a fireplace and beautifully stamped concrete patio, which was the venue for his and Susan’s fall wedding.

Troy worked in the concrete industry all his life, beginning with Land Concrete in Moberly, MO, his family-owned business. He worked 19 years at Columbia Ready Mix as Operations Manager, and finished his career at Schreiter Ready Mix & Material, O’Fallon, MO.

Troy was a man of great character and faith. The most important thing to him was living a life that would please God and help people to know the goodness of God. He wanted to leave a legacy that would not bring glory to himself, but would lead people to God’s love. He truly cared for people, whether it was the people he worked with, his family and friends, or complete strangers. Troy was a devoted member of Church on the Rock in St. Peters, MO. He served as a Royal Rangers leader, combining his passions of leaving a godly legacy and outdoorsmanship.

Troy is survived by his wife, Susan Dawkins; his children and stepchildren, Brianna (Zach) Anderson, Kelsey Allen, Brock (Bridget) Sisco, Christian Davis, Emma Zilke (Ankeet Mutha), Victoria, Adele, Benaiah, and Nathanael Zilke; five grandchildren, Jace, Jett, Barrett, Jaelyn and Asher; and his sisters Julie (Clabe) Dougherty, Amy Dawkins, and Darcy Dawkins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and beloved nephew, James Dorman.

A Visitation and Celebration of Life service will be held on Troy’s birthday, March 30, 2024 at Church on the Rock, 888 Birdie Hills Rd., St. Peters, MO 63376. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, with a Celebration of Life service following at 11:00 am.

One of the last things Troy said, after being told about some good things coming out of his painful battle with cancer, was “Keep it going.” In lieu of flowers, we request you take Troy’s desire to help people and spread love and “keep it going.” If you know someone who is battling cancer or another sickness/disease, help them. Give them gift cards to help with extra expenses such as gas, food, bills. Bring a meal (one that can be easily popped in the freezer to save for later). Help with home chores they may not be able to keep up with. Be a listening ear (this can mean more than you realize). Look for opportunities to help people and show love. Come alongside people, especially in hard and uncomfortable situations. Just love people. One by one, we can make a difference, just like Troy did.

This video speaks volumes about Troy’s character and his love for you and his family. What tender mercies and memories you have been given! You know you have my love and support whenever you need it, but more importantly, you have the promises of our Eternal Savior and King.He has gone before us, to prepare a place for us. It is in that Prepared Place we find our great hope of restoration and reunion with those we love and cherish. The Bible says that we have a great hope before that will not disappoint. It will be beyond our present comprehension, but even now, we know it to be truth. We will abide in that truth until…
    I love you Susan❣️
