Rosemarie Barbara Renz
May 5th, 1929 – April 11th, 2024
Rosemarie Renz (nee Allgeyer), age 94 of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024. She was born May 5, 1929 to August and Bertha Allgeyer and was living proof that a little angel food cake and a big hug could solve a lot of life’s troubles. She was a believer in Jesus, Christmas magic and a little bit of mischief. She now joins her sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Donald Renz, in Heavenly rest.
Rose was the beloved mother to the late Donna (Ron) Coughenour, Barbara (the late Tony) Martorana, Stephen (Denine) Renz, Christopher (Katie) Renz, and Lesley (Mark) Klein. She is the cherished grandmother of Christa (Eric) Dieckmann, Gina McDonald Spierling, Brian (Alex) Coughenour, Stephanie (Tyler) McClure, Lindsay (Ben) Swallow, Erik (Jessica) Renz, Abby Sitzer, Hallie Sitzer, Connor Renz, Cameron Renz, Joshua Klein and Abigail Klein. She was also a treasured great grandmother, sister and sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend, to many not forgotten. Her legacy lives on in those she loved.
In her 94 years, Rose taught us many valuable lessons, such as: old shoe boxes and butter containers make great storage around the house. No occasion is too casual for fancy pants or sparkly jewelry. The best candy is “hidden” in the dining room buffet. An unmade bed is an invitation for the entire family to pile in and laugh together (but when it’s made you better stay off that comforter!). Long phone calls and long lunches are good for the soul. Lastly, love is hard work… and always worth it. No one selflessly loved harder than Rose.
The Renz Family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the care team at Heartland Hospice for their treatment and care of Mrs. Renz. In true Rose fashion, her final act of generosity was the donation of her body to the SLU Medical School.
You are invited to remember her at a memorial Mass, to be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 10 a.m, followed by a luncheon in the Parish Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Rose’s memory to Heartland Hospice via the Gentiva Foundation (www.gentivahs.com/about/donate/) or The American Brain Foundation, an organization of scientists committed to ending brain disease in all forms, including dementia and Alzheimer’s (www.americanbrainfoundation.org).
This is such a lovely tribute to your mom. She was so beautiful and funny. ❤️ May the memories of fun and the importance of family that she instilled in each of you live on. Sending hugs and prayers.
Rose (Mom #2) was my favorite hair client, Mom, friend, and confidant in the world. I already miss her dearly, and will forever miss our long chats together at the salon and on the phone. We told each other everything, serious and not, and it stayed between us. We had such a close relationship that was more like a Mother-Daughter than a Client-Friend. I will forever and always love my 2nd Mom. My thoughts and prayers are with the whole family during this difficult time. Thank you, Rose, for always loving me and being there for me through thick and thin. I was blessed to have had Rose in my life for over 40 years.
My deepest condolences for your loss. My mom and Rose were neighbors at The Grande and dined together. What a lovely person. She’s at peace at now. God bless.
