John Campbell Georgian, age 97, (December 26, 1912 – July 6, 2010) was Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, for sixty years (September 9, 1949 to May 1, 2010) perished after a short illness. Professor Georgian was the author and originator of the MKS temperature scale (PV=T/M). He was known as a tough and challenging professor. Georgian, during his tenure at Washington University, also served as a guest professor at Bengal Engineering College, Howrah, West Bengal, India; Instituto de Technologico de Aeronautica, San Jose Dos Campos, Brazil; and Faculty of Engineering, Kabul University, Kabul Afghanistan. Prof. Georgian was a member of the Missouri Gamma Chapter of Tau Beta Pi National Engineering Honor Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Engineering Education, Pi Tau Sigma Honorary Mechanical Engineering Education, and Registered Professional Engineer, State of Missouri E-4407. He was an active member of the Ethical Society of St. Louis.

      Preceded in death by his parents Alexis and Stella, his brother Carl, wife Lyla C., and grand-daughter Yamin Georgian. He is survived by his second wife Marian Edna (nee) Huer, his children: Jola (Bill) Burch, Roberta (Eugene) Tournour, sons Richard (David), Douglas (Mala), and Alan (Sheila), seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
