Christopher Ostmann
Christopher “Chris” Jerome Ostmann, 64, of St. Louis, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, surrounded by family.
A lifelong St. Louisan, Chris was born on April 24, 1960, the son of George and Elizabeth Ostmann. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and earned an associate degree from St. Louis Community College at Forest Park.
There were very few things Chris couldn’t fix. For 44 years, he worked as a biomedical technician at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. There, he met his wife Marsha. When he challenged her to a cook-off, little did they know dinner would turn into nearly two decades of life together.
Chris and Marsha were married on March 10, 2007, and celebrated their love and good luck with family and friends in Las Vegas. The couple loved spending time watching St. Louis Cardinals games, pressing their luck on slot machines, and enjoying regular ‘Thirsty Thursday’ dinners with family and friends. Chris was always ready to celebrate good news with a glass of chardonnay. Caring and kind, he had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, as well as Alex, his beloved dog.
A parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Chris was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elizabeth Ostmann, and two sisters, Deborah Ann Ostmann and Angela Rose Ostmann. He is survived by his wife, Marsha (née Dooley); stepsons P.J. (Kate Schwartz) Brennan, William (Elizabeth Hise) Brennan, and James Brennan, St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Jude Brennan and Bernadette Brennan; sisters Mary Ostmann Stillman, St. Louis, MO, and Cynthia Ostmann, Akin, SC; nephew, Adam Stillman, St. Louis, MO; niece, Lori Tillis, Mobile, AL; nephew, Peter Tacchi, Birmingham, AL; and nephew, David Tacchi, Akin, SC.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 4556 Telegraph Road. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed here. A Committal Service will follow the Funeral Mass at Resurrection Cemetery, 6901 Mackenzie Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris’ memory may be directed to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
God needed a repair man and now he has found one, RIP my friend. Mike and Alice Lewis
Chris fixed our equipment for four decades. Always pleasant and would take a few minutes to chat in the wee hours of the morning. Guess heaven was running short on nice guys.
i worked as a vendor to SLU for
25 years and have seen Chris regularly or irregularly, as he said in jest to me when i would stop by. He was always giving me trouble in a fun way and made me laugh with his good spirits. i didn’t know of his passing until today and wanted to wish his wife and family my deepest condolences. He will be missed. i’m truly sorry for your loss. We lost a good one.
