James “Jim” Alvernia
July, 30th, 1950 – October 31st, 2024
James “Jim” Alvernia passed away peacefully in his home on October 31st, 2024 at the age of 74. He was born off Brownlee Rd. in Berkeley, MO on July 30th, 1950.
Predeceased by his parents, Matteo and Romaine Alvernia & Janet Alvernia (DiSilvester).
James will be lovingly remembered by his son, Jacob (Carrie) Alvernia, daughter, Jennipher Alvernia, and grandchildren, Ashton Wood, Tristan Alvernia, Cole Alvernia, Garrett Alvernia, Camden Alvernia, Zachary Raymer, Jaxson Raymer and his Great Grandson, Easton Ritchey.
One thing that stands out for anyone who knew Jim was his love for the water. He was happiest when he was on a boat or canoeing, surrounded by family and friends, feeling the sun on his face and the wind in his hair. Boating wasn’t just a hobby for him; it was his way of escaping the daily grind, connecting with nature, and sharing joy with those he loved. Whether it was a quiet afternoon or a day filed with laughter and activity, he cherished every moment out there, and his passion for it was contagious. He shared his love for the water with us all, and those moments will forever remain some of our most treasured memories.
Family meant everything to Jim. He made a point of spending time with each of us, showing us his love and pride in the simplest, most genuine ways. His kindness, his humor— all of it added warmth to our lives, creating memories that will carry us through this difficult time. He was always there with a kind word, a hearty laugh, and a reassuring presence. To him, family was his greatest source of joy and purpose, and he gave himself wholeheartedly to each of us.
Another gift Jim shared with us was his remarkable skill at fixing things. No problem seemed too big, no challenge too daunting. He could take a broken item and bring it back to life, leaving us wondering how he did it. Whether it was a repair around the house or a complex project, he knew what to do, and he took great satisfaction in solving problems. More than that, he showed us that hard work, and a willingness to learn could accomplish nearly anything. Always saying – “if a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing it right!”
As we remember him today, let’s hold close those memories on the water, the laughter shared, and the countless times he fixed what was broken—not just in things, but often in us, through his wisdom and love. Though he may no longer be physically with us, the impact he made on each of our lives will never fade. His love, his laughter, and his quiet strength will continue to be felt in the lives of everyone who had the honor to know him.

Jim and Jan we’re both great people and a big part of our early lives with our hippie group back in the 60s and 70s that included zilch and Shirley, Paul, Ohlman, Phil, Schuchman, and many others. Will miss Jim but I’m happy that he and Jan are reunited.
