Nickolas “Nick” H. McKenzie (78) departed this life peacefully on December 5, 2024 surrounded by his family.  Born in 1945 to Evelyn and Herman McKenzie who preceded him in death, Nick brought love, joy and devotion to his family and friends.

Nick was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf.  He was active in sports and cherished his time watching his children and grandchildren’s games.  His greatest joy was his family.

He was a graduate of Vienna High School and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and loved following the Salukis and Illini sports teams. Nick married his beloved wife Teresa on December 31, 1969.  He began his career as a teacher at Vienna Grade School and later moved to Aurora, IL to take a position as a foreman at Allsteel.  From there, he became a foreman at Tuck Tape and finally moved back to Vienna, IL and worked as the maintenance supervisor at the Johnson County Housing Authority until his retirement.

Nick is survived by his loving family, his wife Teresa McKenzie, his children Nickolas “Scott” McKenzie (Leslie) of Texico, IL and Sara Lewis (JP) of Kirkwood, MO and his grandchildren: Rob (Emily), Nick, Sam, CJ, Katie, Kenzie (Lodan), Angel, Chris, Russ, Trish, Hannah, Harper, Henley and Hudson who adored him.  He is also survived by his sisters, Ann (Sherman) Taylor, Nita (Dean) Gully and Rita (Charlie) Johnson.

Words truly cannot express all that Nick was to his friends and especially his family.  He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that we should all aspire to.  He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him but will never be forgotten.
