Salvatore “Sal” Jackie D’Ippolito
Salvatore “Sal”Jackie D’Ippolito, 69, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital. He was born in St. Louis, MO on September 25, 1955.
Sal is preceded in death by his father, Anthony D’Ippolito; his mother, Rosalie D’Ippolito; and his sister, Mariann D’Ippolito.
He is survived by his partner, Gina DiMaggio and will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Anthony (Leslie) D’Ippolito and Salvatore (April) D’Ippolito; his daughter, Diane (Seth) Maijala, and his grandson, Salvatore Maijala.
After a long career in hospitality, Sal retired a couple of years ago to pursue his many passions. He spent his days fishing for trout, playing and refurbishing banjos, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, dancing, and tending to his garden. Most importantly, Sal found joy in spending time with friends and family and making those around him laugh.
Per Sal’s request, arrangements will be private.
Sal was a humble guy and well liked by everyone as you can tell from the many FB posts. He will no doubt be missed.
We all loved Sal. He gave me many, many cooking tips and we always enjoyed going over family recipes. Loved his laid back attitude and dry sense of humor. Every one of us loved him and we shared so many good times together from the time we were toddlers until now. When we saw him about a month ago he still had a desire to go fishing and said he loved the peacefulness of his favorite trout stream. May he rest by that stream and find the peacefulness that he deserved. We will miss him.
